Rewire Your Future: A Guide To Manifestation

Rewiring Your Future With Manifestation

The word manifestation has quickly become a buzzword in the world of spirituality, self-help, and mental health social media. “Manifest your future reality” and “create the reality you want to have” are slogans parroted by those looking to rewire their futures into something more positive and fulfilling. But, as beneficial as the practice may be, it’s also a practice that often turns away my more practical and logically minded clients due to the mystical elements surrounding it.

To put manifestation in simple terms, manifestation is the practice of using your imagination to create an internal reality that matches the external reality you wish to build. According to the more spiritually minded among us, every individual contains a version of the universe in their mind. As a result of this, the internal realities we have in our heads can create external realities in the actual universe. Thus, we all have this incredible superpower where we can manifest the life we want through internal mastery.

That is a pretty intense claim that packs many assumptions about metaphysics and the nature of the universe into it. Even people like me, who approach the spirituality community with an open mind in the hopes of discovering powerful healing tools, have a difficult time buying into it.

But, even if you don’t fully believe in your ability to alter the fibers of physical reality via your mind, the practice of manifestation still comes with powerful benefits. These benefits make the practice essential for successful long-term goal accomplishment even if it can’t turn water into wine. My hope today in this post is to move away from the mystical and unpack the more practical benefits of manifestation, so you can begin utilizing it in your daily life.

Understanding How the Subconscious Mind Creates Your External Reality

As discussed in my previous posts, the viewpoint at Mental Coding is that the vast majority of our decisions (95%-99%) are made for us subconsciously. That means the vast majority of the actions and behaviors that are progressing your career, improving the health of your body, improving your environment, and creating healthy relationships are being done for you automatically. The subconscious mind determines what decisions and choices to make largely from a combination of past programming and present emotional state.

For example, if we become depressed and start to feel as if no one loves us, then we will begin to subconsciously make decisions where we turn down offers to socialize, don’t even recognize compliments and positive feedback from others, and sabotage opportunities for dates. If we fall into despair and become hopeless, then the subconscious mind will begin to make decisions as if failure was guaranteed for any of our actions. Our internal emotional reality very clearly has a direct effect on the subconscious decisions the mind makes. While this might not go so far as to directly affect the physical fabric of reality, it certainly does have an influence on our immediate environment and the decisions other people will make about us in response.

Thus, when we have a goal we wish to accomplish, the most important job of the conscious mind isn’t to figure out everything to accomplish that goal. No, the subconscious mind will do that for us if we give it the proper emotional state. Our job is to use the conscious mind to create that emotional state.

Rewiring Your Future with Motivation From Manifestation

While it’s unknown if manifestation can truly change the universe, it gives us control over our dopamine and motivation. This is accomplished by using our imagination to create an internal reality of a goal already being accomplished. For example, if our goal is to acquire a luxury car, we want to imagine what it would be like if we had the car already, what it feels like to drive it, what it looks like we are inside of it, what we hear when we rev up the engine and what we experience from others who notice us in the car.

When we do this, it kicks off our subconscious mind’s motivation system. The mind will want to create the internal reality it’s experiencing on the outside, so it begins to drive us toward action. It does this by rewarding us with dopamine whenever we complete an action that takes us closer to our desired reality. Our dopamine system works, not only by releasing dopamine when we receive the reward but also in anticipation of receiving the reward. In other words, when we use our imagination to create a desirable internal reality, then the mind begins to anticipate that reality and begins to release dopamine to reward actions that move us towards it.

Manifestation Changes How We Focus

When we manifest and create an internal reality that we wish to create externally, this shift in our subconscious mind influences our reticular activating system. In neuroscience, this is part of the mind which automatically redirects our focus to objects of value or threat. This is part of the mind that causes men to reflexively look at women’s cleavage or people to stare at car accidents on the highway, slowing down traffic.

What it focuses on is heavily influenced by our emotional state and what our subconscious is focused on in the background. Therefore, if we create an internal reality that we desire, our subconscious mind will automatically begin to notice and direct our attention to objects of value related to creating that reality externally. This is why we often find our way to our goals, even when we are facing the unknown. When our subconscious mind is focused on accomplishing a certain goal, the reticular activation system will direct the conscious mind to marketing advertisements for products that solve a problem or towards people who can help overcome obstacles.

Rewiring Your Future Self-Image With Manifestation

It’s been largely shown that communication is overly (93%) non-verbal. Our judgments of other people come less from the specific words they speak but from a subconscious processing and assessment of their body language, facial expressions, and vocal tones. From this assessment, our subconscious mind presents us with a certain “vibe” we get about people which tells us whether or not we want to date, work with, or buy from them. This “vibe” is often called a person’s “energy” in spirituality circles.

Our “vibe” or the body language, facial expressions, and vocal tone we are using are determined by our emotional state and what our subconscious mind is focused on in the background. Thus, manifesting an internal emotional state where you already have what you desire changes how you present yourself to others. While this may not have the ability to change the universe in and of itself, it puts you in the optimal state to attract people who wish to buy from you, work with you, and help you make your dream a reality.
